Im glad to announce the start of the August top posters raffle! This is your chance to win a share of 500,000 runescape gold, just for being active on the forums! This contest will run every month, and the winners announced at the end of each month.

So how will the raffle work. Basically at the end of every month the top 50 posters will have their name placed in the raffle for a share of 500K of Runescape Gold. Now with that said the top 50 posters will each get a different number of tickets entered into this raffle which will be dependent on just how active you were during the month.

So how the ticket distribution will work is this - the top poster for a given month will have 50 tickets entered into the raffle, the second top poster will have 49 tickets entered into the raffle, the third top poster will have 48 tickets in the raffle and so on down to the 50th top poster receiving 1 ticket in the raffle.

The prize money will be broken down into 5 lots of 100K, but there is no limit to the number of lots of 100K any individual can win. So for example the 17th top poster has 34 tickets in the raffle therefore he has 34 chances at winning each lot of 100K, and theoretically could win all 500K.

Well that's the basics of the Monthly Top Posters Raffle. The only thing left to do now is to make sure you are active on Runescape Boards.

Upon the drawing of the raffle the winners will be announced, and those winners have exactly one week from that announcement to claim their prize (by posting on RS Boards or PMing Danago) otherwise the prize with be forfeited – no exceptions I’m sorry.

All winners will have their IP’s checked to make sure that no duplicate accounts are being created for the purposes of this raffle. Also please be aware that spamming of these forums for the purposes of raising your post count will not only jeopardize your account here at RSB but will automatically disqualify you from this raffle (raffle disqualification is at the discretion of the administrators and moderators of RSB).

Just incase you are wondering, I_HAVE_NO_NAME was 32 in the rankings, meaning he was entitled to 18 tickets. The rules state that a contestant can win any amount of times, and that just so happened, with I_HAVE_NO_NAME being drawn twice.

The september top poster raffle will be started soon, so keep an eye out for that. Maybe those who didnt quite win this time will have better luck in the next raffle

I think it's a raffle, meaning that the top (whatever number) posters get put into a raffle, and then winner(s) is/are drawn, but I could be wrong.

You can be the number 1 poster, but that doesnt mean you will definitly win, it just means you have a higher chance than anybody below you.

I made a probability distribution table to show the relative chances of winning.

It shows the chance of winning a certain amount, depending on your ranking. Note that the probabilities are for that EXACT amount, so whoever comes first has a 16.71% chance of winning EXACTLY 100k, and a 1.36% chance of winning EXACTLY 200k etc.

Also note that there are alot of 0% chance items throughout the table. This does not mean it is impossible to win, it just means the chance is very small, and close to zero.
