like can i use a rune axe if im only woodcutting 38?

No, that is only for weilding, you can still use it just you have to have it in your inventory.

So if ur a lvl 1 wc lvl 3 combat you have a rune hatchet with you, then you can wc with a rune hatchet? ill check it right now

Yeah, my pure woodcutter has 50 woodcut, and he's been using rune since day 1.

What is the point of pure woodcutters? Can't you just train woodcutting on your main?

Yes, you can woodcut with any axe at any level (just not any tree).

When you try to cut a tree without an axe you'll get "You do not have an axe to cut with" and when you have a broken one, obviously you can't use a broken axe on a tree. So if you want to fix the broken axe go to lumbridge to the axe store and use the axe on Bob and he'll charge you to fix your broken axe.

You were probleby trying to wield it (hold it so you can attack with it)!

You can still woodcut if it's in your in ventory just you hold one less log.

when i advance to a certain level it says'you can no cut with a ******* axe'

This is simple you must be:

Lv40 ATTACK to WIELD the rune axe.
Lv41 WC to USE the axe to cut trees.

So if you don't have lv40 attac you can cut trees with the axe but can't wield it.
If you don't have lv41 wood cutting then you can WIELD the axe to fight with it but you cannot use it to cut trees.
