gold pieces are the standard currency in most games similar to runescape, ranging from roman war games to futuristic single player rpgs. altho ye they coulda thought of somethin original hehe like final fantasy and Gil

It is following the mdeieval theme, gold was commonly used as currency back then and they just kinda ran with the idea.
