I have created this thread because every month I get loads and loads of applications for people to write Runescape articles for the array of Runescape sites I manage in exchange for money or Runescape membership.

Unfortunately I don't have the time or money to manage the hundreds of people applying for the one off opportunity to write a couple of articles about elements of Runescape so they can afford to pay for their Runescape membership for a few months. However I am now looking for individuals who are interested in a more long term writing position at my sites.

I have neglected many of my Runescape sites over the past few months as my life schedule has become busier so I'm resigned to the fact (and have been for a couple of years now) that in all honesty I can't produce the quality or volume of content required to establish any of my Runescape sites as premium sources of Runescape information.

However at the same time I still want to see my network of Runescape grow and thrive as well as continue to serve the Runescape community as they have for a number of years now. So the natural solution is to look for individuals who are ready, willing and capable of producing the quality and quantity of work that I can not.

So I'm looking to recruit some new, eager, committed, mature, knowledgeable Runescape writers for my sites.

As I have already mentioned I'm not looking to hire or pay writers on a per article basis anymore, nor can I afford the time to have to be checking the quality of work being published. So I need mature, experienced Runescape players with good writing skills looking to write on a longer term basis.

On top of all this I'm really looking for individuals who can commit to writing at least 6 - 7 articles/posts a month. In exchange for this commitment and contribution I'd be willing to pay you $10/month to pay for your Runescape membership. I would also be willing pay more and bonuses for good performance or greater volume of quality contributions, though you'd need to have been an author on the site of a least 3 months to even be considered.

At this stage I'd like to start with looking for writers for RS Haven.

So what am I looking for writers to write about on RS Haven?
Well I'm not looking for anything one thing in particular, you'd have a somewhat open slate to write about what you pleased as long as it is related to Runescape. You write about anything from a guide about your favorite Runescape skill or your best tips on making Runescape money through to your personal thoughts about the state of the game. You could write about the latest topical debate surrounding Runescape or discuss the ramifications of the latest updates. There really is a lot you could talk about. With that said I'd expect that all posts would look to be:

• insightful
• interesting
• informative
• inspiring
• entertaining

... or the like. I think you get the idea.

So what requirements would there be?
There are a couple of things that you need to be able to write for RS Haven which are as follows:

• Original Content - Anything you posted must be 100% your original writing that you still hold all rights to.
• Unique Content - Your posts can't have been duplicated on any other sites including your own.
• Relevant to Runescape - All articles should be somehow relevant to Runescape and if possible should be something that’s intellectually stimulating.
• High Quality - You are expect to be able to produce work that has correct spelling and grammar as well as being interesting to read and with accurate information so that readers will enjoy reading what you write. Also I expect that the length of a good article would never be below 200 words and in most cases would probably be somewhere between 400 -1200 words depending on how long it takes to comprehensive write about the topic.
• Good Knowledge of Runescape - You are expect to have a fairly good knowledge of the game. Players who haven't been playing the game for at least 12 months probably don't have the broad ranging knowledge needed.
• Quantity of Content - You'd be expect to contribute at least 6 - 7 article a month. So obviously we are looking for Runescape players that also have a passion for writing. We are also not looking for writers who only want to write for a month or two. We are looking for writers who want to write on a long term regular basis.
• Member of RS Boards - You wouldn't have to be a super active member, but you'd still need to be a member for convenience of communication purposes. Obviously more active RSB members would be preferred.
• PayPal Account - At this stage I don't really know how else compensation could be paid so a PayPal account is needed.
• Comment on Other Articles - It will be expected that you also make at least 6 - 7 quality comments to other authors articles each month as well.
• Promote Other Articles - It is also expect that you will actively link to other relevant articles in the RS Haven, Runescape 100 and RS Boards network of sites.
• Manage Yourself - You will also be expected to manage yourself, your time, generally come up with your own article ideas and ensure the articles are to an RS Haven standard as I don't have the time to be proof reading every article.

To be able to publish articles on RS Haven, you first need an account. So you need to head to RS Haven and register an account by clicking the "Register" link at the bottom of the right hand navbar or clicking this link below:

Once you have done that PM me back here on RSB letting me know what username you signed up with. Then I will upgrade your user status to a Contributor at which point you will be able to submit articles/posts to the site, though I will personally need to approve them before they go live on the site. At this point your one month trial will begin at the end of which we will make a decision whether or not to place you on the permanent writing staff of RS Haven.

Please bare in mind that not everyone will be accepted - as I think I have highlighted above I do have some expectations about the caliber of person we are looking for. With that said I encourage everyone to apply, and to not underrate yourself or your skills. You may surprise yourself.

BTW, is Paypal an internet bank itself, or do you need to put in your credit card number or bank account?

I hope to post skill guides, updates, my opinions on news, my thoughts of the game, quest guides, RuneScape articles and more! Hopefully you can get me on the team and I'll start cranking some content ASAP. I've been playing RuneScape for a long time and various accounts and I'm a member currently and have a vast knowledge of the game, it's areas and other things. I can get some laughs in posts as I have a good sense of humour, I'm good at punctuation, I type fast (113WPM, Improving...) and I have a very good vocabulary as well as advanced grammar skills. So if you want me just give me a holler!

I don't see a problem with this, but do you see yourself being motivated enough to post every week while you don't have a paypal account? Because like I said I'm not looking for writers who only want to write once or twice then leave it at that. I'm really looking for writers who are eager to contribute on a regular basis.

I'm pretty sure you just need a bank account, but I'm not certain. Maybe someone else could shine some more light on the topic.

If you are just looking to contribute on an infrequent basis then maybe writing guides for the RS Boards guide section might be a better option - http://www.rsboards.com/?q=node/9 - because at this stage I'm looking for writers who are looking to write on a reasonably regular basis.

LOL - nothing could be further from the truth. RS Haven still gets well over 1000 pageviews a day! If anything I have often got emails from people asking me when we were going to start posting more infomation up their again!

To the person asking about PayPal, you don't even need a bank account or credit card - you can receive and send money without one BUT to purchase RuneScape membership you do need a verified PayPal which requires a credit card or bank account as I remember.

As for this, I found it interesting but I'll have to think about it.

The bad part about unvalidated Paypal Accounts is that once you reach a particular amount of money, it dies and says you've done too much. I wish there was a way around it. Of course you can just make a new one

Does anyone know if you can buyRunescape membership cards off Amazon with an unverifiedPayPal account? And can you verify with just a bank account because I imagine most teenagers would have bank accounts but wouldn't have credit cards?

I do not know if you can buy Runescape membership cards off Amazon with an un-verified PayPal account or not but I think you can verify a PayPal account with just a bank account .

BTW , if someone doesn't have a bank account neither a credit card , they can borrow their dad/mom's credit card to just verify the account.

My mom dosen't approve of me using hers. Also you can't just sneak and use it, because they sent X amount of money to the bank acount. Then you must tell them the amount (It's only in cents). Very annoying.

Well the primary compensation will be all regular writers on RS Haven will be compensated with Runescape membership monthly.

I have left the door open for further compensation for writers who go above and beyond expectations and produce good quality articles that really stimulate the popularity and readership of the site. Though I wouldn't be recommending that any writers expect extra "compensation" because my standards are pretty strick in this regard.

I actually knew about RS haven before I joined RSB.I never wanted to be in it before becasue I never knew anybody.But I think I might aswell try it.As for the membership,I already have one and there will be no need to purchase one for me if I join.

Well as it stands I wouldn't actually be buying the membership I'd just be sending the RS Haven author enough money monthly via paypal to pay for the RS membership. So technically they could spend the money on what ever they wanted, but obviously I'd prefer they spend it on RS membership because I think that would make for better informed RS Haven authors.

If you'd like to trial to be an RS Haven author please follow the instructions outlined above.
