I was just wondering, why is it in RSB help? Shouldn't it be in Warm Welcomes? Seeing that you're finding about people? But I can also see why it is in RSB Help. If you needed to know who's who, you could go there for help.

What are your thoughts? Keep same right?

Hi,

Not played runescape for a long time (although i have been popping on when boredom takes me) and I'm looking to get right back into it with mature players who are putting more into the experience of the game i.e. by roleplaying and creating an extra perspective to work on.

At the mo' im trying to get jagex to resend my password details as I have
forgotten them, but i'd like to drum up some interest in the mean time.

best weapon for slayer?

Hi everybody
I am going to be training a lot of slayer for the next while - I am at 80, and want to get to 85. I have a whip, but I am thinking about getting something better. For slayer training - which do you think would be better, a Sara Sword, or one of the god swords? I can afford a Sara sword right now, so it's very tempting, but if a god sword would be better, I'll wait and save up some more.

Basic Definitons

Definitions:
Focal-A focal is where your eyes are drawn at first glance, this can be achieved by an area that is darker, lighter, different color, or by positioning. A face often creates a strong focal because we recognize what it is more than we would an abstract piece. It is best to still use the aforementioned methods (lighting, color etc.)

C4D - C4D generally refers to an abstract object(although they can be shaped like anything) created in a program called Cinema 4D which uses 3d shapes rather than flat pixels like Photoshop does. These are split into three main categories: normal, effect, and wireframe. Normal C4Ds are often made to look good on their own but can be used in art to create a background. Effect C4Ds usually have a black background and are normally used on the layer setting screen or color dodge so only the colored parts will show. Wireframes often have white backgrounds and are used on multiply or color burn so that only the "wireframe" of the C4D will show.

Fractal - This is NOT a C4D, they are NOT made in Cinema 4D, they usually don't appear to be three dimensional as a C4D would.

Render - A render is an image with a transparent background generally cut out from the original background using either the pen tool, lasso tool, or eraser, you will get the best cut by using a mix of the three. Although these are preferred by a lot of artists they do make it harder to acheive depth in a sig whereas the original background already has some depth.

Stock - A stock is a photo or art piece that is used as a base for artwork, many people take these photos specifically for others to use. Most artists allow the use of their stocks only under certain conditions. No commercial use without permission is the most obvious one. Some artists will require that you link back to original creator of the stock and link them to whatever you create using it, these rules are generally used on sites such as deviantart so if you take a stock from there remember to read the artists rules of use and follow them. Split into three main categories: focal, background, and texture.

Vector-uses a mathematical equation to make an image that won't be pixelated no matter what you resize it too, these are made in Adobe Illustrator or macromedia freehand, NOT PHOTOSHOP.

Raster- an image that is made up of pixels, any work created in photoshop is a raster.

Vexel-An imitation of vectors and what most people refer to as vectors, these are made in photoshop. Although they apear to be vectors at first glance if you resize one of these they will become pixelated, vectors will not. These are raster based.

Tutorial/Tut-A step by step guide through doing something, these can be found simply by googling "photoshop sig tutorials" or finding them on a graphics site. A great way to learn the basics of the tools is through youtube videos, once you know what the tools can do written tutorials will be much easier to follow.

Tools:
Lasso-there are a few different kinds of lasso tools, the most used is the polygonal lasso because it is easier to control than either the magnetic or the regular one. This is probably the easiest tool to learn for cutting out an image from its background to create a render.

Eraser- most people can probably figure out the basics of this pretty easily if they have ever used paint or any other art program. Photoshop adds a few additions to it including the opacity of what you want to erase, meaning you can make something less visible but not get rid of it entirely. This can also take the shape of any of the brushes you have downloaded.

The magic eraser tool- another easy to use way to cut out an image, however it is very inaccurate and may cut parts of your image or not cut all the way to the edge, this is best used on images that have a solid color background.

Dodge tool-Used to make parts of an image lighter.

Burn tool-Used to make parts of an image darker.

Blur tool-can remove a pixely look, the gaussian blur filter can apply this to an entire image at once. Can be used to help create depth in a sig by blurring objects that should be farther away.

Sharpen tool-opposite of what the blur tool does, If you use it too much the image will look pixelated. Can be used to help creat depth in a sig by making objects apear to be clearer that are closer to your focal and in the foreground.

Pen tool-The most advanced tool for rendering an image and making smooth lines. It is also used to create what people often call "vector" work, if it was made in photoshop it is not a vector, vectors are done in Illustrator.
