View Full Version : KO! Wait...what?

I was wondering what this means, and if anyone else has had it.
I am in a fight for a bit, as long as most fights take, and do the usual high scim hit, KO with the 2h but every once in about 10 or 15 kills nothing happens.
It's not that either one of us isn't risking 25k nor is it lack of drop potential but it doesn't even say "You Have Defeated Dr0pl355"
Nothing happens, just a waste of food and curiosity of what had just happened.
Could it be that they lagged right before the kill? That I lagged right before the kill? A safety precaution that every 1000 kills gets nothing to happen?
EDIT: Bones do appear on the ground, nothing more.

I've gotten it, obviously.
I always wrote it off to lag, but I have no idea what actually happens.

I've had this happen to me before, I killed a guy and should have gotten a pretty good drop, I didn't get anything. He dropped nothing, it really ticked me off.

You may not be thinking of the same situation.
It's not that there is no drop, as in items.
There is no drop, bones appear on the ground and it doesn't give yout he message you killed the guy.

It's pretty much because somebody else took out more of their hitpoints than you did. Like, for example, if you pj somebody at umm.. 20 hp, and they have around 60 and just were in a fight, you wouldn't get anything because the other person did teh most damage.. Hope I could help. :p

No, then you get a message that says "So and so did more damage then you did, so they got the drop."
This is very rare for me, and I knew posting this would have people not understanding it.
One example [of the about 2-5 I have]
Me and a guy in Varrack [not Trozi] alter fight in lumbridge, after leaving the GE together.
I KO with a 20+ after a legit fight, and no kill message occurs, no drop happens ['cept bones.]

My theory is that somebody else had previously fought your opponent and done more damage than you did. Then they may have logged or something along those lines. So when you killed the person, the game realised that you didn't do enough damage to get the loot, but it also realised that they had logged out meaning they cant get the loot either. Therefore it glitched into leaving the loot on the floor for the person that died to pick up again.
I have been on the opposite end of this glitch; after dying i have picked my loot up several times. Usually this happens when i have been pking for a while, and i get ko'd quick (meaning someone else gets my drop, rather than the person that ko'd me).

Maybe someone else got the kill and the drop and it didn't tell you.

Thanks :)
That makes the most sense but, I'll keep this open in case any legit pkers come that have a definite answer e.x. Trozi.

Another possibility is that the game gets confused about the fact that its pvp; it may think that the player should leave a gravestone. Idk.

Yeti knows this story, he was there.
We were pking in Draynor one time and lagged out, got the "Loading - Please Wait" screen.
When I appeared in Lumby, I had every single item that I had before.
It was as if I home-tele'd.
I went back and asked the guy what had just happened.
He said "i just killed u lol".
Maybe the lag was coincidental, and when the rightful drop-owner logs, you keep your stuff?

Wel Magex claims that he got killed, and was able to pick up his stuff off the ground.
Perhaps they are two totally diferent situations, if only we could talk to a guy after you "kill" him with no message.

If only he wasn't ten years old. =/

Well, the whole point is to make them unhappy; so you want them to lose as much stuff as possible.
If we were able to get one to rat out the secret of how they get to go to lumbridge with all their stuff in their pack or able to pick it up off the ground; then we would be more productive.
Thus giving a much better "day ruining" potential.

It sounds bad for you as a great pker, but a great glitch for the pked.
I assume it's just a glitch.

Well just because you have a high drop potential and what not doesn't mean you will always get something. The potential to get something good increases, but it doesn't mean you will get something good. I mean, I could kill KBD or KQ or some monster who drops good loot 1000 times and get crap. And sometimes monsters will drop nothing at all. Its just you got on the low end of the drop chance.

Jagex is losing money, and is becoming extremely poor, so their servers die from lack of money to power them.

I assumed i'd get many responses like this.
This isn't getting a "bad" drop or getting no drop; this is flat out, doesn't even give the kill message scuh as
You have defeated Igotzdrops
or
You have defeated Igotzdrops but, Trozi has done more damage so they get the drop.
It's as if nothing happened.
Just happened to me five seconds ago, battle axe, 2h, scim, steel pure.
Terrible Luck tbh.

Ohhh I get it. Yeah, that sounds like a glitch to me.

Yeah glitch...plus the new lag out time might have been a factor. I was training with a friend and his computer froze and he lagged out. I watched the green drag kill him and then his grave disappear and turn into just his bones. He said he lost everything including the three items he should have been able to keep.
