From 16 to 51 Mage..

I was wanting to get 51 mage (I just picked a random number =P), but I didn't know how many runes I would need or what spells I should use. Could you help me out please?

I'm not sure how many runes you would use but I'll tell you what I would do:

16-39: Fist of Guthix (it's seriously not bad exp for F2P, and it's free)
39-51: Crumble Undead (cast this on the skeletons in the Varrock sewers)

Well if you want an extremely easy way to level mage then wear the best armour you can and find a lvl 2 rat and cast air strike on it. You can afk and its free exp and cost next to nothing. Prety good experience up through level 50 or so =)

Because of the armour you are wearing, you never hit the rat so you just keep getting free experience. I only recommend doing this with the first few spells, otherwise most of your experience from the spell is coming from the damage you actually do but not with low level spells like strike spells.

How long would that take and about how many runes would I need to make/buy?

I'm not really sure, i just know that it is really cheap and being able to afk mage exp is definately a plus =D

You can train mage and make money at the same time in members!
Just get 25 mage and make varrock tabs at houses, then use glories to tele and house tabs to tele back to your house and then go to the persons house.
