combat lvl

I used a combat lvl calculator and typed in 40 attk, 50 str, 33 def and 50hp. It said my combat lvl was 50. THen, i added 60 mage, and it still said my combat lvl was 50... Is that correct?

range levels and mage levels dont affect your total level so it is correct

but then how come when i was a pure mage and my mage was lvl 60 my combat lvl was like 37 or sumfin?
