So I wasn't going to ask this question, because it's so uninformed, but then all questions are from the uninformed, so there!

When someone in RS calls out "B sale!" what is the etiquette for that? Is it assumed to be someone getting rid of this account and starting anew, and/or someone who wants cash only? Must I be the one to offer, or is it a boot sale with haggling and all? And what finer points did I forget to ask?

"The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. That's dumb."

when someone says b sale most of the time they are selling items that they either dont need or that are rare or expensive. some folk will say b sale cash only and some will trade items i sometimes ask how much and then offer items of equal value ask them what they are trying to buy mabye you already have it and you might trade for that but everyone is different. and remember selling accounts is against jagex rules and could get you banned and most people are scamming for your money and you get the account and then they log in change the pass and recover questions and you out what ever you traded

Good point - and thank you for the timely answer! So how does a "Small B sale!" differ from a shout-out like "8 item sale!" or whatever?

A small bank sale usually consists of only a handful of items, 5 or less.
Sometimes small bank sales have pretty good items - unlike a regular bank sale, which is just selling of stuff the player doesn't use.
Hope this helps ... :)

Look at the players combat level for a good idea of how good their b sale is. This may be stereotypical, but it usually works...:)

1. Don't assume. Ask the player if they accept cash / items.
2. You can offer; haggling is acceptable as long as its not offensive.

You can ask them their price for the item(s) and if you think it's too much, ask for a lower price or put in an offer.
Buying items doesn't have to be a boring experience on RuneScape, so don't forget to have fun! ;)

Ain't nothin' I do that isn't fun, Honey!

Thanks for the guidance! I figger I'm not the only one suffering in ignorance, so hopefully others (more shy than me) are looking in, too.

I've wondered the same thing about bank sales. so if someone says "bank sale" you can trade with them, and look at everything they're offering? then ask about only the items you want? I was never sure exactly what you're expected to do.

Yes to both your questions ...
Don't worry, it isn't too formal in RuneScape - we're mostly kids!
