want to do the Lost City quest!

Hi everybody
I really want to do the Lost City quest, so I can make my own cosmic runes (my runecrafting is high enough).
The question is - could I defeat the level 101 tree spirit? My combat is 53, range is 30, and magic is 42. I've heard about how you have to bring your fletching stuff with you and make the bow & arrows there, and bring runes but not staffs, and stand behind mushrooms while you kill the spirit - I've heard all of this, but I'm worried my levels are too low to do it.

Yes, you should be fine.

Range or magic should work out.
Even melee (I meleed the spirit at around 50-55 combat)

I think my stats were similar when I did the quest. Just bring the best food you can.

You can bring arrows & runes, but need to make armor & weapons. The bigger problem is you are limited to what you can make.

There are two other ways around the restrictions:
- Have a friend who is a higher level fletcher/crafter make equipment for you on the island. This also means you can carry more food.
- Have a friend (or you) goto the Law altar though the Abyss with the equipment you want.

thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot this weekend. It'll be awesome to make those runes myself.

oh, does a ring of recoil & amulet of defence or magic count as armour?

nope jewelery doesn't count, but you don't want to bring a recoil since you don't want the tree spirit to hit you. also remember to bring a teleport out of there so you don't have to walk out through the wilderness, dueling ring would be fine.

getting it caught behind the rocks and mushroom is a bit hard so have run on

i used fire strike=) to kill it since it does more damage than at lv 30 range, boring to click on spell then on tree spirit again and again though

use mage no matter what ur range is.... i did it at lv 47... 60 atk 50 str 1 mage at start somewhere around 8 mage at end

Ya, use Wind Bolt, I did it with low mage.

i did quest at lvl 34 cmb i belive ... just do highest spell possible to it ;)

Thanks for your help everybody! I did it this weekend, it was awesome. I did it with just steel arrows and a willow long. I brought some potions and an ammy of defence, and a bunch of lobsters - and never needed any of them. It was great - I'm glad I checked first which mushrooms to hide behind. Of the three sets, I could only get behind one. Then I chopped, the spirit came out, I ran, and it never hit me once! got out with a duelling ring. it was great - and the city Zanaris is the nicest looking place I've seen on runescape!
