The RuneHQ fansite, which is also known as Rune HQ or Runescape HQ is one of the biggest Runescape fan sites on the net. RuneHQ was started by a Runescape players called MrStromy but with its years of successful development it is now maintain by a team of over 50 helpers, along with its forum moderators. Rune HQ was created in late 2003 and has experienced a great deal of success since its creation. RuneHQ's content and services have for the large part been of a very high standard and generally been fairly up to date.
That said RuneHQ also has a lot of critics. One of Rune HQ’s biggest problems has been the lack of support and poor community atmosphere. With its tight restrictions and little user flexibility on their forums RuneHQ has developed a bit of a reputation for being the most over moderated Runescape forum and has rubbed a lot of its users the wrong way. That said some consideration should be given to RuneHQ because they are dealing with an extremely large community and they do need to have firm rules in place to make sure everything functions smoothly.
I asked the members of Runescape Boards the other day what they thought of RuneHQ in general? Here are some of their replies:
"Personally I think RuneHQ are not the best of the Runescape fan sites, at least in my opinion. They generally follow their own rules to the letter instead of the dealing with things case by case with good spirit, and a lot of the RuneHQ members seem only too eager to pounce on mistakes, even simple errors. It almost feels to be a little cruel.
Not considering the Runescape HQ community, I don't feel they do much to quality check their Runescape guides. They allow spelling errors to go unchecked and the guides themselves can be a bit lacking. Though overall it isn't a bad site, there are just others Runescape sites I like more."
"RuneHq in terms of their Runescape guides, seems very unorganized. There are spelling mistakes, and the price guides lacks a lot of important information."
"Runehq Runescape guides are lacking in terms of language and information. Since Rune HQ is such a large Runescape fansite with a huge member base, I don't see why Runehq's members or guide writers can't just put their documents through Microsoft Word to double check for spelling errors. RuneHQ is also very uptight on their forums, but that's what you get when you have hundreds of people signing up everyday, of which many would be their for no other reason than to spam their forums with Runescape hacks or scams."
So that is what Runescape Boards members thought of RuneHQ. As you can see from what they have said, they're are some positives, and Rune HQ is definitely a large Runescape site that has a great number of resources, but at the same time it also has a lot of room for improvement. If you'd like to submit your own opinion about the RuneHQ then you can join Runescape Boards and share what you think.
